I can hardly stand to be inside today typing this, what with my flower-draped garden bench calling, the dogwoods carpeting the forest’s mid-story while baby green new leaves higher up don’t quite yet hide the mountain from view, and the fresh-mowed grass smelling so absolutely heavenly! Yes, it’s a lot of work (and I hated to take all those naturally misplaced daffodils out), but there will be snakes soon. Right now it’s just… beautiful.
I’m not planning to do any more hard work today, I’m just going to sit on my bench, drink iced mint tea, and consider what still needs doing out there. The peas are up strong, the lettuce and spinach for some reason (probably lack of rain) is coming in slow. The leeks aren’t showing yet – may have to replant – but the collards, banana peppers and mustards are well-started indoors and will have to go out with the tomatoes this week. So I guess it’s good that this whole week is Earth Week!
